The NY Times lied to the world about Stalin’s Ukraine famine, and is lying to the world now about Covid-19

Gareth Jones is the reporter who broke the news of Stalin’s man-made famine in the Ukraine that deliberately killed millions through starvation in 1933. Just as Hitler’s genocide is called the Holocaust, Stalin’s is called Holodomor, or the Terror-Famine. Jones was murdered in 1935 by a Soviet agent, as a reprisal for telling the truth. Walter Duranty of The New York Times lied to the world at the time, claiming there was no famine, to quell the rumours. He lived to old age, had a Pulitzer Prize, and was esteemed by his colleagues. But like many socialist-leaning Westerners at the time, he sold his soul. Duranty and many others at the time supported Stalin and were willing to justify his actions to the world. Because of Duranty’s cover-up, the USA recognized the USSR as a nation-state, for which he was lauded at the time.

Much the same thing is happening now, nearly a century later, as the Western media is lying to the world about the real cost of a new social engineering experiment, the never-ending Covid restrictions.

Just as socialist Westerners wanted to believe in Stalin’s “Great Experiment” in the 1930s (even as he was murdering millions) now Leftist progressives produce propaganda to prop up medical tyranny, many in the hope that it will lead to the Great Reset. Many of them sincerely believe that the real function of the Covid restrictions is the social and political ideal that will result from them — and if there is a human cost for it, so be it.

They want to re-make the world into the just, sustainable and diverse Utopia they’ve been brought up to believe in. But these “journalists” today have a great deal to answer for. For example, the NY Times editorial board called for a national lockdown and never reported on lockdown deaths. They wrongly blamed Trump for Covid deaths, giving the CCP a pass. They inflated the urgency of the disease to justify the restrictions that they then called for. They later called for vaccine mandates and passports, helping to create discrimination and injustice and record job losses.

Indeed, the NYT and other MSM are complicit in a great crime against humanity. They became full-fledged advocates for all the restrictions, deliberately helping to create a moral panic in order to influence public policy. They were far more than reporters of the news; they deliberately shaped it. And like Duranty and the NYT of the 1930s, they have blood on their hands for doing so. They bear responsibility for lockdown deaths, vaccine deaths, and the rise of medical tyranny and global authoritarianism.

Former NYT writer Bari Weiss quit the paper due to the hostile environment she experienced there due to “woke” reporters who harassed her and penned an excellent open letter about it. She wrote: “The truth is that intellectual curiosity—let alone risk-taking—is now a liability at The Times. Why edit something challenging to our readers, or write something bold only to go through the numbing process of making it ideologically kosher, when we can assure ourselves of job security (and clicks) by publishing our 4000th op-ed arguing that Donald Trump is a unique danger to the country and the world? And so self-censorship has become the norm.”

Weiss rightly condemned the Leftist ideological agenda at the Times, leading reporters to self-censorship. This worldview is capable of evil. The ideology Weiss refers to blinds reporters to that evil.

Just as Duranty wished to present Stalin to the world in a positive light and cover up his crimes, NYT reporters (and all MSM reporters) wish to sell us on the virtue and necessity of the restrictions for what would otherwise be an unremarkable disease. No one would have paid any attention to it were it not for media propaganda creating mass hysteria and fear.

Why is the Times doing this exactly? At the very top, it must be money and a lot of it (tens of millions for ads). The CCP is almost certainly behind this. We know the CCP and its affiliates have had high-level talks with the Times and other MSM and given them millions of dollars to publish Communist propaganda. Meanwhile, when a US businessman tried to publish an anti-CCP ad in the NYT, they pulled the ad so as not to offend the CCP:

“A full-page advertisement that called for the world to hold the Chinese communist regime to account for the COVID-19 pandemic was pulled at the last moment by The New York Times in March 2020. The paper said the ad didn’t meet its standards, but the ad was pulled after it had already passed the paper’s vetting process. The businessman who paid for the ad suspects the paper’s ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) played a role.”

This is not to say that all NYT reporters are complicit. There is apparently one who is not: “David Leonhardt is the brave soul at the New York Times . . . daring to attempt to put an end to some of the fearmongering surrounding SARS-CoV-2 in the NYT Morning Newsletter,” wrote Alex Berenson. What did Leonhardt report? “It only took 20 months for someone to actually admit in a large-audience U.S. Corporate Media outlet what the media outside North America and right-wing outlets have been saying since January 2020 — age is a significant factor in the risk of serious illness with the Wuhan Virus.” Meaning that he says that the children are not at risk. My question is why is this fact even controversial? The fact that it is indicates who duplicitous the NTY has become.

At the level of the reporters and editors, the motivation for many is pure self-interest and careerism, while others are more idealistic, motivated by a sense of duty to a grand social vision, to serve a ‘greater good.’ They envision a better world but like many of the Western socialists of the 1930s who idolized Stalin, believed there was a great cost necessary to achieve it.

Jordan Peterson calls the two types ‘authoritarian’ and ‘egalitarian’ progressives. One can find both workings in the media these days. Whatever their motivation, they are deliberately covering up the truth and lying to the world and they know it, but do it anyway.

The religion of Leftism, like many world religions that became politically powerful, has a dark side that feeds on violence. This idealism blinds otherwise decent people to terrible atrocities performed in the name of the ideal.

In the 1930s, British intellectual socialists were blind to Stalin’s atrocities because “many liberal-minded Britons, Europeans, and Americans wanted to believe in something better than capitalism. In 1930, unemployment topped three million in Britain. During the 1929 Wall Street Crash stockbrokers and shareholders threw themselves out of windows in New York and in Germany Hitler and the Nazis were waiting, watching, getting ready. The hunt for something better was on and Western liberals were not slow to move to Russia.

“One of them, the early 20th century’s best-known public intellectual. George Bernard Shaw fell in love with Stalin’s Russia. Some believe, with Stalin himself. Two years after he completed a nine-day tour of Moscow (in 1931) in the company of the American socialite and British MP Lady Astor, the horror story started in the Ukraine and other parts of the Soviet Union. Sadly, [Shaw] didn’t notice what was going on.” Perhaps he didn’t want to know. In that respect, he was like so many other idealistic socialists at the time.

Similarly, when George Orwell came back from the Spanish Civil War and tried to publish his account of it, which would reveal to the world what the Stalinists were really capable of, he found it difficult to get a publisher, because the socialist liberals at the time were blinded by their political vision: “Gollancz, the publisher of all Orwell’s previous books, over concerns about the book’s criticism of the Stalinists in Spain. Nothing has changed.

Shaw’s blindness to the truth is very similar to that of so many people in the West today regarding the horrors that the new medical fascism is responsible for — starting with all the deaths caused by Covid-19, a disease engineered in a lab with NIH funds for the express purpose of implementing a massive global psyop.

The evidence for this is still being put together but there is certainly enough for a good story in the NTY: a 2015 paper from the PLA on the use of the coronavirus for germ warfare, evidence of a lab leak, and cover-up, and lobbying at the WHO, etc.

But any real investigation of all this would require talking about the complicity of the MSM itself in promoting fear. And that would require exposing the NYT itself, so the journalists there have learned to keep their mouths shut to keep their jobs.

The real story behind Covid-19 is one that NYT journalists should be breaking on the front page. Instead, they try to cover it up.

Several Times reporters now regularly call for censorship of whatever they happen to disapprove of, and are more like hall-monitors and snitches than journalists.

And just as the fate that befell Gareth Jones, those who tell the truth can expect their careers ruined or worse — but many tell the truth anyway because an unflinching dedication to truth should be the only trait of a real journalist and a real human being.
